Liverpool face Wolves in their must-win final match of the Premier League season, while hoping that league leaders Manchester City will slip up against Aston Villa
Police were called to Liverpool’s team hotel in the early hours of this morning after it was targeted by fireworks ahead of their crucial Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pyrotechnics were set off near the Titanic Hotel at Liverpool’s Stanley Dock at around 1:45am on Sunday. Merseyside Police said officers were called after “a couple of fireworks” were let off outside the Regent Road hotel.
An empty box of fireworks was found on the pavement nearby.A police spokesperson said cops spoke to a man at the scene and took him home. No arrests were made, but high-visibility patrols were carried out following the incident. Liverpool play Wolves at Anfield at 4pm in the final game of the Premier League season.
A victory for the Reds would open up the possibility of a title triumph provided Manchester City, who play at the same time and are one point clear, fail to beat Aston Villa.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are still hunting for an unprecedented quadruple, having already won both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup on penalties against Chelsea at Wembley, and with the Champions League final next week against Real Madrid.
Kop boss Klopp said on Friday that if someone had suggested back in August that was how their season would pan out, he would have laughed at them.
“Imagine somebody tells you before the season, you’re going to be in all three cup finals and want to fight for the league,” he said ahead of the visit of Wolves. “You would say ‘Yeah, good luck with that’. It’s actually not possible but the boys did it – fed by the people here in the building (training ground), by our supporters, by all these kind of things.

“Working together with these people is a pure joy. Being where we are is so rare, you cannot plan it. It’s a fantastic time for a Liverpool supporter and now we have to make sure we enjoy the last two games as well.
“The most enjoyable thing in football is winning football games, that makes everything much easier. Two massive games to come, one directly on Sunday, and we have to make sure we are ready for that.”
