LYNCHBURG, Va. – A celebration is underway at Liberty University as the 2021 Virginia Commonwealth Online games return.
On Friday, the tailgate occasion kicked off at 5:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies established to get started at 8 p.m. in the Liberty College Indoor Practice Facility. But even though it is all very good enjoyment, it isn’t the aspect everyone is hunting ahead to the most.
“Last calendar year, it was just vacant arenas,” reported basketball mentor Roger Wilson.
Coaches and gamers alike are much more than all set to get out and contend after being sidelined by the pandemic.
“I’m glad all people is equipped to remain in the gym, equipped to appear around, to have entertaining and delight in time in the fitness center,” Wilson stated.
Wilson is coaching his son’s eighth-grade travel crew. Many thanks to the sponsorship of a local sports activities store, Wilson’s group is just 1 of a few that Dick’s Sporting Items is gearing up this year.
“It’s truly enjoyable for the workforce here in Lynchburg but extra enjoyable for the young children,” Dick’s Sporting Goods Local community Marketing and advertising Manager Brent DiGiacomo explained. “They get a possibility to do something that will be a lifetime memory for them. We’re just hoping that they convey house the gold.”

Wilson reported if it wasn’t for their support, the young children might not have experienced a opportunity to play in the Commonwealth Game titles this weekend.
The crew is just one of quite a few competing in the match, and it is their to start with time.
“A lot of area teams you only have three or 4 groups in a bracket,” Mentor Jeremy Money claims. “Here it’s like 10. It is an amazing expertise for the children.”

“I just like the activity and the alternatives you get out of it,” athlete Marcus Miller explained.
“Especially now with my kids staying teenage levels, they’re combating the temptation to want to go and cling out and remain on the appropriate path,” Wilson included.

There will be several other competitions on campus through the study course of the weekend.
