Stanley (Stan) was a retired emeritus professor in the College of Illinois French Section, where by he taught for 34 years.

Stan was born and used his early many years in Indianapolis. He was elevated by his mother, Pauline (Polly) Gray Linthicum, whom he has credited with instilling his first interest in all items French. He graduated from Shortridge Superior School in 1944.

Stan commenced studies at the University of Indiana below the Military Reserve Coaching Program before coming into military services assistance, which was expended in the Philippines and Japan. After discharge, Stan lived and labored on his family’s ranch in Stove Prairie, Colo., the place he enthusiastically took up the “cowboy life” of a cattle rancher.
